Kisspeptin-10 is the C-terminal decapeptide fragment of kisspeptin, the product of the KISS1 gene, and binds the receptor KISS1R, also written GPR54. Its identification reshaped reproductive endocrinology research: kisspeptin signaling is now described as an upstream regulator of GnRH release and therefore of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Published work concerns pubertal onset, GnRH pulse generation, and hypothalamic control of reproductive hormones.
